Healthy Start Coordinator at Sacramento City Unified School District
Tell us a little about yourself:
My husband Jason and I have three children ages 7, 9, and 13. I was raised in Elk Grove, CA. I've worked for the Sacramento City Unified School District for 12 years. We recently adopted a rescue toy poodle, named Cody.
How are you making a difference in your community?
I'm helping to meet the basic needs of students and families within the Sacramento City Unified School District.
What issues are you most passionate about?
My commitment to community service. I feel most inspired and connected to the world around me when I help others.
What inspires your community efforts?
I'm inspired by the resilience of children and adults living in poverty.
Why is the work important to you?
I believe that we as human beings have a responsibility to help our neighbors when they are most in need.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Personally, I'm proud of being a mom and a wife. Professionally, I consider being able to be paid for a job that I love a huge accomplishment.
What have you struggled most with in your life?
Self-doubt. I struggle with trusting that I've done enough to help.
What kind of lessons do you think are important to instill in future generations?
I think it's really important that we teach respect, empathy and tolerance in our homes and schools.
If there is one problem in our community that you wish you could fix, what would it be?
I would love to be able to feed every hungry child.
How do you decompress?
Spending time with my family and friends. I love spending time by the sea. Praying and Journaling.
