Dr. Richard Pan & Local Leaders to Congratulate Sacramento-Area Graduates

More than 500 people from dozens of area schools are expected on the South Steps of the Capitol

SACRAMENTO – Dr. Richard Pan, a pediatrician and Senator representing the Sacramento region, along with co-hosts, Assemblymembers Kevin McCarty, Jim Cooper and Ken Cooley will hold a special recognition ceremony to honor graduates who have been nominated by their Sacramento-area schools. Sacramento County Supervisor Phil Serna and Sacramento City Councilmember Steve Hansen will kick the event off with opening remarks. KSFM 102.5 Morning Hosts, Wayne, Jay, and Megan will be the Master of Ceremonies.

In preparation for this event, Dr. Pan’s office encouraged every high school and middle school in his Senate district, including charter schools, continuation schools and special education schools to nominate a “Most Improved” and “Most Outstanding” student in their graduating class. In addition to academic excellence, students will be distinguished for their involvement in community service, student body leadership, music, art and sports.

Honorees will attend the special recognition ceremony along with their families and receive special recognition and a Senate Certificate from Dr. Pan. “Graduating from high school and middle school is a huge milestone our lives.  It will be my great honor to congratulate dedicated Sacramento-area students and encourage them to keep up their good work,” said Dr. Pan.

Dr. Richard Pan is a parent, small business owner, former UC Davis educator and pediatrician who represents the Sacramento area in the California State Senate. Dr. Pan continues to practice medicine at WellSpace Health Oak Park Community Clinic, pursuing his passion for working with families to build healthier communities.
