Dr. Richard Pan Named Child Care Champion by Parent Voices and Child Care Law Center

SACRAMENTO, CA – Dr. Richard Pan, pediatrician and state senator representing the Sacramento region was presented with the “Child Care Champion” Award by Parent Voices and the Child Care Law Center.

The Child Care Champion Award recognizes outstanding leadership in the California Legislature to make quality, affordable child care a reality for children and families. 

Senator Pan was honored for his leadership in the Senate Budget Committee to fund the provisions of the Child Care Protections for Working Families Act (AB 60).  Through the 2017-18 State Budget,  groundbreaking new laws set new guidelines for affordable child care will help hundreds of thousands of families.

“We need to set the example here in California.  We can’t only talk about finances – we have to talk about the human side of the equation,” Dr. Pan said in his acceptance speech. “Investing in kids means investing in quality child care, and we’ll get a better return than the S&P 500.”

Child Care Champion awards were also presented to Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher and Assembly Member Miguel Santiago.
