Starting May 16, health care is available to children regardless of their immigration status.

Sacramento – As working families across the state celebrate because their children will finally have access to the health care they need to stay healthy, Dr. Richard Pan, who co-founded and chaired Healthy Kids, Healthy Future, celebrated along with them and made the following statement:

“As Chair of Healthy Kids, Healthy Future, I led the five-county effort to provide health care coverage for all low-income children, regardless of their immigration status. I’m thrilled that as of today, all children in every California classroom will get the health care coverage they need to lead healthy lives."

Healthy Kids, Healthy Future is a regional coalition of organizations from Colusa, El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento and Yuba counties that came together in 2004 to create the state’s first multi-county Children’s Health Initiative model.  Its goal is to ensure that every child in the Sierra Sacramento Valley area will have access to comprehensive, affordable and continuous health coverage in a culturally and linguistically appropriate environment.
